Based in the heart of Dublin's city centre, Dublin Youth Choir began in January 2017 with the launch of Dublin Youth Chamber Choir. 24 young singers were chosen to perform challenging choral music in this exciting new chamber choir. Following a successful first term, the main Dublin Youth Choir and Male Voice Choir were formed in September 2017. The singers receive expert tuition from experienced vocal tutors and highly skilled musicianship staff. The Youth and Chamber Choirs rehearse in the Unitarian Church, Stephen's Green. DYC has exciting plans for 2018, including two guest performances in the National Concert Hall, a recording project for the Royal Albert Hall, and a joint concert with the Holy Heart Choir from Newfoundland. Performances and trips, both in Ireland and internationally, are quickly establishing this choir as one of Ireland’s leading youth choirs.
Dublin Youth Junior Choir begins in September 2018. 30 primary school students entering second class will be chosen to sing with Junior Choir. They will also receive weekly musicianship training through a Kodály-inspired programme.
Dublin Youth Choir aims to fulfil the regional gap in choral music education in Dublin. The young singers will perform a wide repertoire, from medieval and renaissance music to compositions by living composers, placing a special emphasis on the performance of music of Irish composers.
The experience is not restricted to singers resident in Dublin; anyone willing to commute is welcome to audition. To receive an audition time, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
